Mozilla Firefox – The best web browser around! If you’re using Internet Explorer, you’re most likely open to a whole ocean of exploits and potential security risks. If you’re using Chrome, you’re losing out on all the addons Firefox offers. Use Firefox!

Last.FM – The best place to keep track of what you’re listening to, and most importantly find new music that you like! It is so difficult to find new bands to listen to, or new tunes that might suit your taste. Download an addon to your chosen music player, in this case MusikCube is the program I use, and every track you listen to is recorded at Last.FM. This will then build a profile of the sort of music you listen to, and Last.FM will be able to recommend what music you may like.

MusikCube – My favourite music player. Personally, I dislike iTunes, Winamp, and really really dislike Windows Media Player. I’ve tried Mozilla’s ‘Songbird’ and didn’t like that either, so in search of a new program to handle my music library, I came across MusikCube. Although there have been some problems with it not attaching itself to the sound card (which I resolved by always starting the program as an administrator – this option is found if you right-click –> properties, or if you right-click and “Run as administrator” on Vista or Windows 7), it is an excellent manager of my music library.

Google Mail - It should go without saying, but it seems that huge numbers of people still tolerate the mess that is Microsoft Hotmail or ‘Windows Live’. It lets through an obscene amount of spam, and to this day I still receive large quantities of emails from hijacked hotmail accounts. Using GMail, the spam is actually filtered (I have never actually had any spam in my inbox before), and your real mail is rarely placed into the junk folder. Along with the mail facility, you also receive a calendar, documents, and so much more! You can’t go wrong really.

HostGator – If you are looking for reliable, cheap webhosting, HostGator is PERFECT. Their support team is absolutely great, and their packages are brilliant for the price. I have been with HostGator for more than 2 years now, and I can safely say I have never noticed any downtime, never had any problem with data disappearing, and would thoroughly recommend them. They are excellent at their job!
