Ring of Fire

Ring of Fire – The Drinking Game

Introduction

The ring of fire drinking game is perhaps one of the most fun and interesting drinking games you can play! This page is for reference if you ever forget the rules, or want to try some new rules! If you have never played this before, you are missing out!

Requirements

  1. A standard drink: pick a standard drink that everyone is going to have. It gets uneven if one person is drinking beer and the other is having double vodka and coke… But if that’s how you have to play, that’s how you have to play! Have lots of it readily available!
  2. At least 1 deck of cards: the more people, the more cards. It isn’t completely necessary, it just means the games have the potential to be longer, and there’s less ‘faffing about’ between games.
  3. Friends to play! Of course!
  4. 1 pint glass: This will serve as the ‘dirty pint‘, we’ll come onto what that means later on…

The Base Rules

  • The game rotates in a clockwise direction.
  • The game begins with the youngest player.
  • “Drink” refers to the width of two fingers worth of beverage.
  • Cards are to be placed around the centre cup, upside down.
  • If at any point the circle is broken, the game is over and the player responsible for breaking the circle must down the contents of the centre cup, or if there is no drink yet in the centre cup they must down their current beverage.
A

WATERFALL

The player who picked up the card counts down from 3, and then begins to drink.

As soon as s/he starts to drink, everyone must drink. They may drink for as long as they want to, but as soon as they stop ONLY the player to their left can stop. As soon as this player stops, ONLY the player to their left can stop, and so on until the last person remains, and they can then stop.

All male players drink.
7

FOR HEAVEN

The player who picked up the card holds onto the card – they now have a heaven. They may hold onto this card until they use it. They use it by pointing to the ceiling/sky. Everyone has to follow suit, and whoever is observed by the card holder to be last has to drink.

BUST A RHYME

THE DIRTY PINT

For the first 3 Kings: The player who picked up one of the first 3 cards may pour any quantities of any drink, until a quarter of the pint glass is filled. For the final king… the game is over! The player who picked up the fourth king must drink the contents of the pint glass till it is empty!

Alternative Rules

With any game, there are always variations. In ring of fire this is common, and below are some of the more fun and entertaining alternative rules that you can use in your version of the game! If you have any other good suggestions, please send them to me via the contact page!

8

SNAKE EYES

The player who picked up this card would have 3 opportunities to tell other players to down their drink, through the usage of “Snake Eyes”. When eye contact is made with the player with this card, the card holder may say “Snake Eyes”. If eye contact is not broken before “Snake Eyes” is fully spoken, the other player must down their drink. If however, eye contact is broken, the card holding player has lost the opportunity and only has two remaining chances.
5

GECKO

Rather like the original “five for dive”, the player with this card can, at any point, call gecko. This action involves placing ones self against a wall in a gecko-like position. The last player to do so must drink.
5

THUMB MASTER

Rather like the original “heaven”, the player with this card can, at any point, position their thumb in a distinctive way. All other players must copy this movement, the last player to copy having to drink.
